New in Oslo

Hi there,
I've just got my bike here in Oslo.I've tryed to bike in Ostmarka. Did't enjoy it that much,but it was still better than nothing. I will really apreciate, if I can join some bikers,who can show me the trails around!I can say I prefer all mountain type of riding and like to go downhill.

Someone on the facebook-group for Frognerseteren should be able to help with that kind of riding. There is also a bike-park in Drammen.

Yes, there's lots of good trails in Östmarka - and the rest of Oslomarka! At least if you're in to all mountain/trail riding. Bear in mind though that the vast majority are natural trails so they are quite technical if you're used to built bike trails.

If you're looking for downhill biking it's the Frogneseteren area in Oslo or Aron in Drammen that's closest.

Why didn't you enjoy Pioneren?

Since trails aren't marked you need to ride with someone local or ride with a map. The website mtbmap.no has tons of good trails for biking.
You can download it to your phone/gps.

Cgeck out tirsdagstur i Oslo on this site. Most thuesdays there will be a ride going somewhere close to the city. Usually in Østmarka. Nice way to get to know the trails and some new people.

Yes, I am used to natural trails,but on a different terrain.Usually first part of my rides I am going mostly uphill and the second - going down.

This was my first ride on Pioneren.Usually I am used to ride rocks and roots on the way down.This trail was something new to me beause here the roots and rocks were also on the way up

I had to dissmount a lot and I kind of missed the flow.Also in the area after Rundann, I think I got lost and manage to find the trail right before his end

I guess the next experience there will be better.

I will ride there this Sunday morning so I hope I can join some bikers.

A couple of years back a group of riders started riding in the area and called themselves Tirsdagsklubben (The Tuesday Club). The appointment was to meet up for riding on Tuesdays at 1900 somewhere in the neighborhood (Østmarka). The time was convenient for those with parental obligations and the weekends were spent riding other areas, on longer rides or with a higher pace. The rides have always been open to anyone and the pace has been set by the slowest in the group.

The same people (me included) invite to other rides on the forum as well, but the Tuesday rides are somewhat institutional.

You know a friend of mine was saying something like that:

If you ride once a week - you're getting out of shape
If you ride twice a week - you are holding your level
If you manage to ride tree times a week - then you are improving!

So having a ride on Tuesday + Sunday is a good thing!
But isn't it too dark to ride afrer 19.00h ?

I am planing to ride Sunday morning,So if we organise a ride,that start at Rustadsaga sportstue lets say,it will be perfect !

OK.What about, if we organise a ride on Pioneren - start time: Sunday morning at 9.00 - Rustadsaga stue ??

Better to start at østmarksætra if we're doing the grand tour

Welcome to Oslo. We are a couple of guys going out today at about 17.30 - can be flexible to push it to 18.00.
We are going the classical and fun route called Barlindåsen. It´s somewhat what you seemed to talk about - up up up and then down again.

Since I work in the afternoons now,all my mornings are free for riding.
Is there anyone else who can ride at that time?
