Hei ICON_SMILE

Is there anybody who would like to show me some MTB tracks in Kristiansand ? ICON_SMILE I am here in Norway for two years now but i didn't want to go deep in the forest alone so i am familiar only with roads here. I think it's time to ride some easy "mountains" but i dont know any bike-riding-people here and thats why i am asking ICON_SMILE

So if somebody have free Sunday 25.04.2010 maybe we can meet
and ride together ? ICON_SMILE

Jeg bor på Tveit og snakker norsk litt ICON_WINK

Hilsen,
Sebastian

Hi Sebastian,

The forests around Kristiansand are packed with magnificent single-tracks. The Jegersberg area (starting directly north of the university) and the Baneheia/Bymarka area (north of the city centre) are excellent and easily accessible. Trips are often posted on this forum, so keep looking here, and ask for details or someone's phone number if it's hard to understand what's being written. Call me on 91897099 if you want.

Cheers,
Oyvind T.O.

Thanks for the tips about going north from UiA. I really enjoyed over 2 hours hiking, climbing on the rocks and washing my shoes in deep mud with bike on my back. That was something ICON_SMILE Next time i am leaving bike at UiA and go further without it. It will be muuuuuuuuuch easier and the people will not look at me like i was crazy. Realy not much riding up there. Only the way to some "barnehage" was cool, all the rest was just hell ICON_SMILE

Gps track...

Maybe yes, but if i am going to RIDE my bike i want to RIDE it... NOT CLIMB with it on my back or WALK it. Not for 2 hours.

Its possible that i have used wrong tracks, not made for cycling. It was really impossible FOR ME to ride most of time. I was following RED to the top and BLUE on my way down. And i haven't seen any bikers on my way.

Next time i will try to find something easier ICON_SMILE

ps. I am not a PRO-rider in DH ICON_SMILE

I`m not a fan of jægersberg either because you do have to carry your bike a bit and the stuff that is ridable can be daunting.

Don`t worry your balls will grow with time. ICON_WINK

or you can join us in Søgne where all the scarry stuff has chicken runs so you actualy ride it quite easily. ICON_SMILE

Here is a couple of fims from jægers..

Nice videos ICON_SMILE

Those tracks in Søgne are interesting... I will try to ride with you some day and we will se if i am good enough ICON_SMILE

Maybe jægersberg was to much for the first time for me and i have to start from something else. It was my first time in mountains from.... 4-5 years ICON_SMILE

You shouldn`t have a problem in Søgne.

I would say that you proberbly have to carry your bike between 30-40% in Jægers, and hmm..5% in søgne. If I can do it anyone can.

(I`m proberbly the biggest chicken of all the guys who ride in this area)

I am wondering... why your videos have such a big black frame around the main video? I mean that the video doesn't fill the window like most of videos on youtube. Is it something that GoPro HD adding to videos ?

Hi again ICON_WINK

On Monday i will try to face this mountain again, but this time i want to know first which way is the best ICON_WINK I have seen on my gps track that i have made a big circle in deep forest around "den omvendte båt". Now i want to get there (ride there) in the shortest and easy way possible ICON_SMILE

Can somebody look at this part of map and check if my path is ok or should i go another way?

Thanks for help / Takk for hjelpen ICON_WINK

No beginners route at all....

Thanks for the link to your track ICON_SMILE

What about "bymarka rundt" ? Is it easier to ride then "den omvendte båt" part or quite the same?

Bymarka is generally easier than the area around jegersberg, including "den omvendte båt".
Less rocks and roots, although not hard to find them either.

A bit hard 15-20 min start, starting right behind the Hospital (sørlandet sykehus), with a pretty long and steep climb on gravel, but its worth it.

You should join us in some of our trips in the weekends ICON_SMILE

Since you live at Tveit, you have to try some of the local tracks. Tveit isn't the best area for MTB, but after living some years here I think I have found the best ones.

The track to Havsyn is one of my favorites and it is beginner friendly. You will have to enter through the "lysløype"(lighted trail). The trail lead to a scenic view point.

Thanks for your log. I have been there yesterday and found one very nice view point (trail was very nice also, especially way down) ...

... but my way was a little bit different. You can see it here:

http://www.gpsies.com/map.do?fileId=dgnlqknwsclsutvn

I will try to use your track one day.

Btw... how did you passed the river at the back of Barnehage? Is there a bridge ? ICON_SMILE

Yup, that the right place. But if you compare our logs, you will se that we didn't use the same trails. After you had been at Havsyn, you turned left and used the trail at the bottom of the valley home. My way is a roundtrip around the top of this mountain.

The river cossing is rather cold this time of year....unless you use the bridge ;-)

If you zoom in on my log, you will see a part that I did several times back and forth. This is called the "Sommersti" and is a shortcut of the lighted trail. Its a nice technical trail trail to practice on.
The last run(from south to north) was without a leg in the ground. That was my motivation for doing this several times.

Vi må sykle sammen en dag.

Jeg har nesten bare syklet i Jægersberg den siste tiden, da det ikke er mange stier rundt Tveit. Jeg skal si fra neste gang vi skal ut!
