Surviving the the cold, wet and dark winter is hard work here in the North of Europe. Little hope is found in the surrounding forests with it's soggy trails and foot deep puddles (or snow). The whole population goes into a collective state of depression, and the only thing to look forward to is the feast that involves ridiculously fat food (most often pig), fermented fish and Aquavita that happens around the time when the sun turns (often referred to as Christmas). That is the time of year when I start going through my guidebooks for a much needed sliver of hope and inspiration. The good thing is that there are actually dry trails on this continent most of the year. So, without further ado: Meet "Mountan Biking Southern Spain". A trustworthy travel companion with a selection of trails that should please even the most discerning rider. Southern Spain are the home of a good selection of guide firms that runs their services nearly year round, and this book maps out a few of the trails that are most often used by these companies. It caters towards both the beginner and the more seasoned rider, but is biased towards longer and more technical routes. All within reasonable driving distance from Malaga or Granada (the main airports in the area). With it's easy to read maps, excellent trail selection and thoroughly detailed trail descriptions the book is a definite must have for those planning (or longing) for a trip to the land of dry trails. Highly recommended! -Truls Erik Johnsen (in cold and wet Norway)
-Som en avsluttende kommentar så kan det være verdt å ta noen turer med guide først. Da blir det mer sykling (altså morro) og mindre knot (altså frustrasjon).
God tur!
