The Varia Radar Tail Light (RTL) is a rearview bicycle tail light with an integrated micro-radar, capable of detecting up to 8 vehicles approaching a cyclist from as far back as 140 meters (153 yards). Once an approaching vehicle is detected, information regarding the vehicle’s distance and rate of approach are computed, while the tail light serves as a rear warning light – increasing the riders visibility and alerting the vehicle operator that there is a cyclist ahead.
The information compiled by the RTL is then wirelessly transmitted to the dedicated Varia Radar Display Unit (RDU) or a compatible Edge device, alerting the cyclist about the approaching vehicle until the treat has passed.
